Abstract Peer Review System
Who should be a reviewer?
The Abstract peer review group needs to have expertise on clinical issues related to medical doctors and allied health professionals. Academics and research institutions, partner organisations, and local NGOs and professional associations will be encouraged to apply to the working group as abstract reviewers. Members from a cross-section of regions and districts will bring a valuable sub-national perspective to the group. How does it work?
-
The Scientific committee chair will send you an abstract review request . You need to:
- Acknowledge receipt of each abstract with a response to the scientific committee and confirm you can complete by the deadline, this is 1 week after receiving the Abstract.
- Before making a commitment to review an abstract that is sent to you, ask the following questions. This will ensure the abstract undergoes a thorough and equitable review:
- Does the topic match your expertise? Abstracts will be randomly assigned. Only accept if you are competent to review that area.
- Is there a conflict of interest? Examples include colleagues in the same department/academic institute; previous publication with any of the submitting authors; financial/ professional association to the abstract. Please return this abstract to the scientific committee and list the potential conflicts.
You will be guided by the abstract review form that contains review questions and possible scoring.
Complete the Abstract Review Form and return it to the Scientific Committee Chair by the Due Date
Confidentiality – you have the responsibility to ensure the information in the abstract is not revealed.
Already a reviewer?
Ask the Scientific Chair to give you access to the "Abstracts for Review" web page so you can check the abstracts assigned to you and complete the Automated Abstract Review Form.
